Dolomiti – World Natural Heritage site!
A vast territory extending across the Provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Belluno, Pordenone, and Udine: 231,000 hectares of breathtaking landscapes, unspoiled landscape composed of green fields, rivers and alpine lakes: the Dolomites: World Nature Heritage site. The Dolomites were acknowledged as a World Natural Heritage site by the UNESCO in Seville on June, 26th 2009. This important acknowledgement was granted also thanks to the numerous parks and nature reserves in the Dolomites, which are observed by provincial and national organisations in order to protect flora and fauna. Holidays in the Dolomites provide the ideal occasion for admiring enchanting protected areas, and to personally experience the phenomenon called "enrosadira", which turns the mountains in South Tyrol made of Dolomia rocks red at dawn.
