Winter

The most famous excursion is the magnificent Sella Round, the round tour of the Sella Mountain Group with the skis on your feet: about 26 km of slopes out of a total of 40 km including cable car rides. The Dolomiti Superski ski pass is valid for all cable cars involved in this excursion, and you can enjoy the most beautiful downhill slopes. We recommend you plan at least half a skiing day for the Sella Round Tour. The slopes officially close at 5 p.m. The Sella Round Tour can be done clockwise or counter-clockwise. The tour can be started from any of the four villages surrounding the Sella Mountain massif: Corvara, Arabba, Selva di Val Gardena and Canazei, but also from other villages which are connected to the Sella Round like San Cassiano, La Villa, Campitello di Fassa, Santa Cristina, Ortisei, Malga Ciapela.

The round tour is relatively easy and is therefore also suitable for medium advanced skiers. Along the route you will be able to conquer some "sanctuaries" of Alpine skiing like the renowned Saslong slope in Val Gardena where the downhill and the Super-G races of the World Cup take place every year, the Boè slope in Corvara, the Porta Vescovo slope in Arabba, and the Lupo Bianco slope in Canazei. A short variation of the Sella Round brings you to the famous Gran Risa slope in La Villa in Alta Badia, where one of the most beautiful giant slaloms and the day after the special slalom of the World Cup take place. This four World Cup races make up the Dolomiti Super Trophy.

Summer

In summer also the Sella Round Tour can be done clockwise or counter-clockwise. The route is not too demanding but takes about 5-8 hours, hence, a certain level of fitness is required. Just like in winter the Sella Round is completed by means of cable cars and the Sella Round busses.

A paradise for cyclists: the road section of the four mountain passes is about 55 km long. Cyclists love this route due to the outstanding beauty of the surroundings, but also because it is a special satisfaction to conquer the famous Dolomite uphill grades of the Giro d'Italia.

The Sella Round provides the starting point for the various stretches of the famous Marathon of the Dolomites, a charity event taking place on the first Sunday of July. Since 2006 the amateur event without competition, the Sella Ronda Bike Day, takes place along these roads. For this event the roads of the four mountain passes are being closed for traffic to provide complete freedom for cyclists: the perfect dream!
